Why is it more acceptable to believe in God than not to?

Why is the concept of faith only applicable to theism?

Why am I supposed to be tolerant when people try to convert me to Christianity, but when I try to convert someone to atheism, it's seen as insensitive and disrespectful?

Why are my beliefs any less deserving of simple courtesy?

Yes, I got feedback from my 9/11 HotSheet. About half of it (less than I expected, actually) was people complaining that my somewhat facetious call for "religious profiling" disturbed them. And no, I don't really care.

I usually try to avoid politics or religion, because I don't know much about either, but what else was I supposed to write about on September 11th? The new fall TV shows? Goings-on at PalmSource, Inc.? The best place to buy memory for a desktop computer?

Let's look at the facts:

• Religious fanatics murdered over three thousand American civilians on September 11th, 2001.
• Religious fanatics were responsible for the Crusades, the Spanish Inquisition, and Nazi Germany and the Holocaust.
• Religious fanatics are to blame for a whole lot of bad gospel music.

Now, tell me again why I should be nicer to religious fanatics?

Since the HotSheet has returned to its lowest energy state-- that of an irregular publication schedule-- I'm just going to include a précis of my current projects, as much as a placeholder for myself as anything else:

• I'm still working at PalmSource.
• I'm looking more seriously at voiceover work.

• I'm participating in National Novel Writing Month, though I'm not going to make it up to 50,000 words by the end of the month.
• I'm going to a friend's house for Thanksgiving dinner, but probably staying home for Christmas. More on that later.
