Frequently Anticipated Questions

our marriage contract What is a "ReWedding"?

It's just a glorified anniversary party.

(Long answer: When we got married in 2005, our wedding contract specified that we would "reaffirm our marriage vows every seven years." And it's a great excuse to gather some friends together for a fun weekend!)

What should I wear?

We'll dress up a bit on Sunday, but we want you to wear whatever you'll feel most comfortable in. Suit? Okay. Jeans and T-shirt? Cool. Big, poofy white dress? Go for it!

So... should I bring a wedding present?

No, don't worry about that. Like we said, it's just an anniversary party. (With vows.)

Should I bring an anniversary present?

No. But if you really like buying presents, the answer is... still no. Just relax.

What if I insist on bringing a present?

Dude! No! Get over it.

I feel like I should bring something.

Well, bring a game from your library to play with us! We love it when people teach us new games.

Speaking of games... What's this "Puzzled Pint" thing on Saturday night?

Puzzled Pint Since July of 2010, we've been helping to run Puzzled Pint, a monthly event for puzzle lovers in Portland, Oregon. Many of our non-local friends have never attended, and our local GC have never been able to play, so we thought it'd be fun to do a special edition for all our ReWedding guests!

(Check out some sample puzzles from our February 2012 "Wedding Planning" event.)

What if I don't like puzzles?

That's okay; DeeAnn feels the same way. We'd still love it if you came to hang out at the bar with us. We'll play other games, or just chat!

Let's talk about Sunday. What kind of food can I expect at the ReWedding Brunch?

Here's a hint... We've requested a breakfast buffet, including: Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions, and we'll point out which foods you should avoid.

Is there going to be a huge long ceremony?

Not at all. We're just going to stand up, say a few words, and then ask people to sign our ReWedding contract before they leave. That's it!

2005 game show What's the deal with the "Trivia Challenge"?

At our first wedding, we had a game show ("Win Curtis and DeeAnn's Wedding Presents"). This time around, instead of ripping off Alex Trebek and Ben Stein, we're copying every other bar in Portland by putting together a pub quiz-style competition!

You and your tablemates will work together to answer two rounds of trivia questions, and then the top-scoring tables will send representatives up to do battle in the final round for a grand prize! The runners-up will also get to select their own lovely parting gifts. More details will be revealed on Sunday morning.

Will there be cake?

Of course! But not at the brunch; we'll have cake, plus other snacks and drinks, in the Administrator's House, where we'll be hanging out and playing games for the rest of Sunday.

How late can we stay at the house playing games?

We have been known to stay up very late playing various games, but the other house guests may want reduced noise after a certain hour. We'll poll whoever sticks around after brunch, but if nobody objects and we're not falling asleep, we'd love to hang out as long as you're willing to stay. Until we have to check out on Monday, of course.

Breakfast in Bridgetown What's the story with Monday?

We expect many non-locals to have skipped town by then, and most locals to have gone back to work, but if you're free, we'd love to go out to breakfast with you at one of our favorite Portland restaurants.

After breakfast, if you have more free time, we'll walk you around downtown and show off some of our favorite sights. This is all totally optional, of course.

Can I just bring a small gift?

FINE. But we'll be totally ungracious. And won't send a thank-you note for at least six months. IF EVER.
