After analyzing the combined data from all four probes, we determined that the local time-space anomalies were actually messages sent from a previously unknown race of aliens—calling themselves the [ALPHA]—who live inside a naturally occuring subspace rift within this star system. They depend on certain interstellar gas particles that are a [GAMMA] [BETA] for their form of life, but those particles were trapped by our warp core's artificial subspace field and [DELTA] out of the aliens' reach. The only way they could ask for our help was by emitting tetryon radiation patterns that inadvertently disrupted our ship's systems.

After adjusting our warp bubble to a new geometry, we're no longer interfering with the local subspace ecology. Ship and crew are all back to normal, and we made first contact with a new species!

But now that our sensors are online again, we've detected a distress call coming from the fifth planet in this system. Our records indicate there's a human settlement there, apparently named after a particular neighborhood in the founders' hometown of Portland, Oregon. We're sending Away Teams to investigate...
