Edgefield Info

Map to Edgefield Where is this "Edgefield" place?

The Edgefield is located at 2126 S.W. Halsey St., Troutdale, Oregon, 97060. Here's a map.

That doesn't appear to be in Portland.

You're very smart. Good for you. The Edgefield is only 15-20 minutes away from PDX airport by car. You'll love it. Trust us. (If you want to see Portland proper, stick around for our Monday activities!)

Where should I park after I get there?

Edgefield walking map (PDF) If you're staying in the Administrator's House with us, turn right into the first parking lot; the Administrator's House is located between that parking lot and the Main Lodge.

If you're staying in the Main Lodge, turn left, drive past the front entrance roundabout, turn left again, and then make an immediate left into the parking lot just down the slope. If that parking lot is full, there's more parking in the back of the property, past the Herb Garden.

When should I arrive?

Hotel check-in begins at 3:00 PM. Check-out time is 11:00 AM. If you're staying in the Administrator's House, we'll be there sometime Friday night; call 360-216-1847 if you can't find us.

What's so special about the Edgefield?

Originally built in 1911 as the Multnomah County Poor Farm, the Edgefield closed in 1982, was preserved by the Troutdale Historical Society, and was purchased by the McMenamin brothers in 1990. The National Park Service added it to the National Register of Historic Places that same year.

All McMenamins properties are decorated with quirky artwork, and the Edgefield's specific theme is a shady twist on Alice in Wonderland. There's the Black Rabbit Pub, gardens with curiously shaped plants, and other oddities hidden all over the grounds!

Let's talk food. I hear Sunday Brunch will be in "the Attic." Where's that?

It's above the Power Station Pub, on the third floor.

And where do we go for Puzzled Pint on Saturday night?

You'll find that out Saturday night.

Does that mean there's going to be one of those "location puzzle" things?

Yes! It's right here.

What else is there to do at the Edgefield?

Well, you could play beer golf, though you should call ahead and reserve a tee time as early as possible—that's a pretty popular activity. Indoors, there's a movie theater which shows second-run films. You could also play pool, do a wine tasting, have a soak in Ruby's Spa, watch a glass blowing demonstration, hang out in one of the many bars on the property, or just take a walk around to look at the artwork and the gardens. We don't think you'll be bored.
